Student Services

The Student Services Team is here to support our students. They can answer your questions about the major/minor, work with you on a four-year plan, approve your declaration, provide general program advising, connect you with resources, assist you in navigating challenges, and help you make the most of your time in our program. 

Amanda & Megan work as a team and are both happy to help. In general, Amanda is the main point of contact for the Data Science major (BA & BS), and Megan is the main point of contact for the Data Science minor. When you’re not sure who to contact, feel free to email them both.

Amanda Kuhn (she/her)

Amanda is the Student Services Officer (SSO) for the Program in Data Science. Her role is a mixture of academic advising, event planning, and coordinating behind-the-scenes logistics that help the program run smoothly. What she loves most about her position is the opportunity to meet with students, support them as they navigate their time at Stanford, and help create a sense of community and belonging within the major since it launched. Feel free to reach out to Amanda when you have questions, need a thought partner in navigating a challenge, or simply want to say hi or tell her how your quarter is going.

Amanda is originally from Michigan. Before coming to Stanford, she was a high school English and math teacher for over ten years, and for much of that time, she also served as an advisor to students who were dual-enrolled and working toward a college degree.

When Amanda is not at work, you can find her reading, hiking, writing a poem, befriending neighborhood cats, or wandering around a local park with her toddler son.

Megan Imai (she/her)

Megan is the Program in Data Science’s Student Services Specialist (SSS). She supports many aspects of the program and is the point person for the data science minor. Come by CoDa W136 or the DataBase (CoDa W139) to say hi!

Some of Megan’s favorite activities from her college experience were participating in faculty research and studying abroad. She would love to discuss navigating opportunities in your own higher education path with you.

Outside of work, you may find Megan exploring the outdoors, starting a new art/craft project, or binging a sitcom. She also enjoys travel, food, basketball, and spending time with friends and family.

Before starting her role in Stanford’s program in Data Science, Megan was a college advisor at a high school, guiding students through the college application and enrollment process. She loved seeing her students grow and learn more about themselves while preparing for the next phase of their lives.

Megan is so excited to be at Stanford! Her grandparents met at Stanford in the early ‘60s through study abroad in France, and she grew up as a Stanford women’s basketball fan! She is thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the campus community herself.
